After more than 30 years of pouring his blood, sweat, and tears into DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks, our leader, Chuck Thorp, is the heart of the organization. As the Coach, he calls the plays for his vision of what DoubleDave’s strives to maintain – really, really good products that encourage customers to come back again and again for the food, and even more—for the atmosphere. He is the example of the DoubleDave’s culture – smiling friendly, ready to please and attentive.
Chuck started as a delivery driver in 1988. He delivered pies while studying at Texas A&M University. After graduating, Chuck’s energy, enthusiasm and hard work paid off. In 2007, Chuck became the CEO.
DoubleDave’s is my livelihood, my past, present, future and passion – the keystone of my entrepreneurial spirit.
Chuck set a few precedents early on: Technology, innovation, creativity and originality. He inspires the employees and staff of DoubleDave’s to excellence through strong leadership using an upside down pyramid organization where he supports his team; that team then supports franchise owners; who support their employees; who support all of our customers. He’s a stickler for quality and dedicates time each year meeting with vendors, requiring the utmost quality for all of our products — custom designed flour mixes; the finest tomatoes and sauce blends; proprietary spice blends; original formulas for all our cheeses and sourcing first-rate local produce.
I started two at the same time- loading trucks at Dr. Pepper and pumping gas at Texaco, both in Temple. My first business venture (at the ripe old age of eight) involved running multiple lemonade stands during the summer. I did it for three summers in a row and made enough money to buy my first drum set.
Stromboli (because it's good, plus I created it). Favorite topping combo would have to be bacon and thinly sliced tomatoes.
I cannot choose between these two. I'd take both to my desert Island. If I had to pick a favorite artist, it would probably be Brendon Benson.
