February Employee of the Month: Erica Carpenter

How long have you worked for DoubleDave’s?

A little over 7 years.

What’s your favorite DoubleDave’s product?

Today I was just talking about how good a cheese pizza is. You can never go wrong with Peproni Rolls. I’ll get in routines where for 3 months I’ll just want Buffalo Chicken Pizza and then it’ll be pepperoni and green pepper pizza. I can never get tired of pizza.

Ranch or red sauce?

RANCH! Definitely ranch, like gallons of ranch. I can’t eat regular ranch anymore, it has to be DoubleDave’s.

Favorite Pizza of the Month so far?

I’m a huge Loaded Baked Potato fan. I was so happy when it was Pizza of the Year, I could have it all the time!

Best experience with a customer?

I love my customers, I know them on a first name basis, they’re all great. One of our customers is even going to start guiding me through meditation to help with my blood pressure. I worry about the ones that haven’t been here in a while, so I ask around to make sure someone has seen them lately.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

So, 5 years from now, my daughter will be 6 and in school and I have absolutely no idea what I will do with my time. I’d love to say I’ll still be working for DoubleDave’s. I have a degree from St. Edwards in Criminology and Sociology, maybe I could find something to do with my degree, I always wanted to be a Criminal Profiler or Behavioral Analyst.

What is your favorite part about working for DoubleDave’s?

I love delivery driving. I’m good at traffic patterns and I enjoy driving. I love training people too. Some of the best friends I’ve ever made have worked here.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?

That’s a really hard question… I think the most interesting part of my life is when I was a kid, and I can’t think of any kid actors… I like Lauren Cohan from the Walking Dead, she’s pretty hardcore.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Ask questions, sometimes they wait to be told what to do and don’t jump in. Pay attention!

What did you want to be when growing up?

I wanted to be a marine biologist for a long time, I even went to summer camp at Sea World, but I can’t hold my breath underwater.

If you could pick a superpower, what would you choose?

Flying. I wouldn’t have to use gas, its global friendly, I could go anywhere and not be confined by the boundaries of Austin traffic. I’d just have to watch out for birds and power lines.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

I’d pay off my student loans and buy a house. Plane tickets to Germany, and never come back. I lived there for 3 years when I was a kid.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

Season 2 of Stranger Things. I want to watch The Toys That Made Us.

What is your favorite thing to do with your daughter?

I take her to Little Gym every week. We go to story time. Everything is fun with her, except for how tired I am. She’s really smart, it’s fun watching her pretending to read, and feed the cat, and try to load the dishwasher.

What’s the first concert you went to?

All of the concerts in junior high and high school kinda blend together. Some of my favorites were Cher, Staind, Mudvayne, Journey (twice), Meatloaf and Olivia Newton John.

What’s your nickname(s)?

I don’t really have any… But my dad used to call me Ear because those are my initials. Kyla calls me mom!

What music do you play on your shift?

If I had a choice it’d be 90s and showtunes. I love Disney music.
